| © Jacob's Dream 1986. 28'H x 29'W. Designed in the form of the Menorah, the symbol of Israel, as 28 angels ascending and descending on a ladder. The name Israel was given to the patriarch Jacob by G-d after his dream. The base is made of seven levels of mahogany, symbolizing the open eye of Jacob seeing his own dream. Halvani sculpted this pupil of Jacob's eye from a stone from Bet El, the place of Jacob's dream, symbolizing a document of ancient stone. In 1986 the management of Artexpo NY, fascinated by this unique art project, displayed it in the main entrance hall of the Jacob K Javitz Convention Center to dramatically highlight the opening celebration of the Center on April 3, 1986. Artexpo NY was the first show-event to be held there. This sculpture was the largest and most outstanding sculpture ever displayed by Artexpo NY. |
